HPLC Column, RP C8 Octyl, Wide Pore, 5um, 2.1mm ID x 50mm Length, 300A. Cogent Brand. 1 EA.
Additional Information:
Cogent RP C8™ Wide Pore HPLC Columns are designed for reversed-phase separations of larger molecules that require increased pore accessibility. The stationary phase consists of a traditional octyl (C8) bonded ligand permanently attached to ultra-high purity silica and is fully double end capped to minimize secondary interactions and improve chromatographic performance. The wide pore design allows larger analytes to access more of the bonded surface area, making this phase well suited for proteins, peptides, biomolecules, long-chain fatty acids, and other higher molecular weight compounds.
68508-05P-2-3M is packed with 5 µm RP C8™ Wide Pore particles featuring a 300 Å pore size in a 2.1 mm ID x 50 mm length format. This short narrow-bore column delivers rapid separations with reduced solvent consumption while maintaining low backpressure. The wide pore structure improves mass transfer for larger compounds compared to conventional 100 Å media, making it an excellent choice for peptide, protein, and biomolecule analyses. The RP C8™ chemistry provides somewhat lower retention than C18 phases while maintaining excellent selectivity for hydrophobic compounds.
The 2.1 mm ID format is particularly popular for LC-MS applications due to its reduced flow rate requirements and increased compatibility with mass spectrometric detection. Optimum performance is typically achieved at approximately 0.2-0.3 mL/min. Standard HPLC systems used with this column must be capable of delivering accurate and reproducible low flow rates, and low-volume detector flow cells are recommended to minimize extra-column band broadening and preserve column efficiency.
